Research at the University of Washington has revealed a looming threat at the floor of the Pacific Ocean. While methane hydrates have been studied for some time in Arctic waters, little research has been applied to such deposits in other marine environments. The new data from the UW study presents a sobering view of what warming ocean waters might add to a spiraling burden of greenhouse gases.
