The World Health Organization has declared glyphosate, the main ingredient in the world’s most popular herbicide, Roundup, a likely source of cancer. In an article published in Lancet Oncology, researchers affiliated with WHO reported on studies of the pesticides and herbicides tetrachlorvinphos, parathion, malathion, diazinon, and glyphosate. All were found, to differing degrees, to be associated with promoting an increased risk of cancer. Glyphosate is found in a great number of products besides Monsanto’s Roundup; reportedly it is used in over 750 products used in industrial and residential applications.
