In a surprising development which underscores how poorly we understand life in our oceans, Cape fur seals off South Africa have been caught on camera preying on blue sharks. While the sharks are often as big as the seals, they apparently prove no match for the predatory pinnipeds; in  a short space of time one seal was observed killing and consuming the viscera of five sharks. This is a bit of a turnabout, as Cape fur seals are better known as the prey of great white sharks.
