In the lush rainforests of India’s northeast, the residents have created what may be the ultimate organic construction project: bridges made from the living roots of rubber trees. Starting some two centuries ago, the elders of this region devised a unique method to craft these living, growing structures. The structures and the countryside is beautifully illustrated in photos on BBC Travel’s site.
