Cascades Lakes Highway Opening
Lakes on the Cascades Lakes Highway are either open for paddling and camping, or soon will be. The Oregonian has a quick rundown of the situation: http://www.oregonlive.com/travel/index.ssf/2015/04/cascade_lakes_highway_will_hav.html#incart_river

Rivers Low, But Many Navigable
Prospects for paddling are good on many rivers around the state, at the moment. The Owyhee is one of the exceptions, as it is already far below navigable levels. Some Eastern Oregon rivers are boatable now, but probably won’t be for much longer. Dam fed rivers, like a number of popular ones around the Willamette valley, are low but should remain navigable for most of the summer. The Oregonian sums up the situation: http://www.oregonlive.com/travel/index.ssf/2015/04/most_oregon_rivers_will_offer.html#incart_river

Remember, you can always check on your target river from the Cascade Paddlers River Conditions page: https://currentreading.wordpress.com/river-conditions/

Fire Season Is Already Here
With the heat and dry conditions we have had, it should come as no surprise that the fire season in the Northwest is already in session. On the bright side, the smoke you might see now could be coming from controlled burns, currently underway. The Oregonian elaborates: http://www.oregonlive.com/travel/index.ssf/2015/04/northwest_fire_season_already.html#incart_river
