Little North Santiam Parking Fees
Anthony Boesen writes to inform us that Marion County has imposed parking fees for roadside locations along the Little North Santiam River. This, of course, affects not only boaters, but other users of the river corridor, as well.
Fees have apparently applied since May, (water levels don’t support summer boating, so this might have escaped most boaters’ notice), and are said to be $5 per day or $30 for a yearly permit. Collection boxes have been installed to accept payment for daily use. Presumably, contacting the county is the avenue to obtaining a yearly permit.
Salem’s 13th annual Illuminata Regatta, where paddlecraft adorned with Christmas-themed lights and decorations ply the Willamette Slough along Riverfront Park, is scheduled for December 16, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at the park.
